2026 is poised to be a critical year for Baya Systems. After 2025 exceeded all of our expectations, our goals have become even more ambitious, and I’m confident they’re achievable.
I still remember the moment this journey truly began. In February 2023, Sailesh called me and said “Hey, we’re building the next generation of fabric and interconnects. Would you be interested in leading the team?” I felt a bit of apprehension, but knowing Sailesh and what he is capable of, the decision wasn’t a difficult one. I did my own quick SWOT analysis and realized Baya was exactly where I was meant to be.
Today, that decision is evolving into Baya’s next major growth chapter: the expansion of our engineering hub in Bengaluru as we scale for 2026 and beyond. This move positions us to accelerate execution, deepen collaboration across teams, and deliver our next generation of fabric IP at global scale.
Our first office in Bengaluru in 2023 was a tiny 10×20 ft room. Very little elbow room. 100+ years of collective experience packed inside, yet we worked like freshers, hungry, driven and obsessed with what we were building. Five engineers in India, five in the US, all hand-picked, all driven by a single shared aspiration: build a unicorn.
Since those early days, the Bengaluru team has grown to over 50 engineers, and we expect to cross 100 employees in 2026. Looking back at what we’ve accomplished, I often find myself thinking reality is stranger than fiction. I feel both privileged and deeply grateful to be part of this journey.
At Baya, where we choose to grow is just as important as how we grow. And for me personally, Bengaluru was never just about access to talent, it was about building in a place where ambition, capability, and culture naturally intersect. India is investing heavily into building a homegrown semiconductor industry, with over $18 billion USD invested into its Semiconductor Mission. That kind of national focus matters. But building something meaningful always starts with trust. The inception of the Bengaluru team came from highly talented people who had already been through hard, successful battles together, engineers who had innovated, delivered and learned how to win as a group. We’ve since built on that foundation carefully. This historic and ongoing success has attracted exceptional talent, and by being thoughtful about who we bring on, those with the right drive and team spirit, we’ve built an amazing virtuous growth cycle.
There is something special about the talent culture here that people outside India don’t always see. They take on ambitious goals with a strong sense of ownership, move quickly when it matters most, and approach challenges with resilience and collaboration, while still holding deep respect for family, festive time, and the responsibility that comes with building something that matters.
The foundation of this team (Jatin, Om, Ambica, and Harsha) gave me enormous confidence from the very beginning. Humility and excellence rarely go hand in hand, but this group had both. And the moment I truly knew we were on the right path was when we met with Jim Keller and Raja Koduri, who both said: “Yes, Baya is exactly what the industry needs right now.”

Global demand for AI, datacenter and HPC infrastructure is surging, prompted by a shift towards chiplet-based, software-defined architectures. To continue capitalizing on these opportunities, Baya must continue to increase execution velocity, deepen our cross-site collaboration and accelerate delivery of next-generation fabric IP at scale. Scaling hasn’t been easy. The hardest part has always been convincing exceptional people to step outside their comfort zones and believe in what we are building. But the results speak for themselves.
Our Bengaluru team has already become the backbone of the innovation, development and delivery of our products, which are enabling the disruptive scalable, high-performance, chiplet-based systems for AI applications that the industry direly needs. By further expanding our footprint here, we can utilize one of the best talent pools in the world to supercharge our innovation speed. More importantly, it puts us in a prime position to provide our current and future customers around the world with the solutions and support they need precisely, when they need it.
To reach new levels of AI, datacenter, HPC, automotive and robotics performance, we must build out systems and platforms that need hyper-efficient data movement, highly- flexible, customizable system design, and superior scalability. The entire industry has woken up to this fact, as evidenced by the announcement of more unified, efficient and custom systems from some of the biggest global players. Nvidia’s licensing of the Groq technology for inference clearly indicates the need for fit-for-purpose solutions over one-size-fits-all. Given the pace of technology innovation, even giants like Nvidia and AMD have to license or acquire technology to meet the demands.
Baya Systems, therefore, has a critical role to play in unlocking this next generation of performance and capabilities, as the best-in-class provider of data-driven, scalable chiplet-ready fabric.
And this is where the story becomes personal again. Because this future isn’t abstract to us, it’s being built every day by the engineers in our Bengaluru office. When I look ahead to the end of 2026, I don’t just see a larger team. I see Bengaluru established as an engineering excellence center, with deep ownership of product lines, shaping Baya’s success through innovation, customer impact, revenue growth and thought leadership, and grooming the next generation of semiconductor professionals in India.
These days, when I walk into the Bengaluru office, I can’t wait to feel the energy the team brings. We are loud. We are focused. Code and Sound.
